North Acton 

We have an opportunity for a skilled Corporate PR professional to join our Corporate Affairs team for a period of 8 months. You need to be passionate about shaping the external perception of the business and bringing Dixons Carphone’s vision to life by sharing our amazing stories.

The jobholder, at senior PR manager level or equivalent, will be a key touchpoint for many areas of the business, including our Executive team and Group Leadership Team, directly supporting their PR needs. You’ll need to be someone who can get to know the business swiftly, uncovering and developing news stories and campaigns, while also anticipating and managing issues in a calm and measured way. The ideal candidate will be someone with experience in a consumer-facing business.

As part of this role, you will: 

  • Fiercely guard our reputation by identifying, anticipating and handling media issues
  • Be a senior leader in the Corporate Affairs team as part of a function that includes IR and CSR
  • Support with our results and financial PR communications and planning
  • Identify opportunities for amazing corporate PR strategies and campaigns for all brands which include Currys PC world, Carphone Warehouse, Dixons Travel and iD Mobile
  • Be a key part of our issues and crisis management planning
  • Ensure alignment on the execution of strategies, news generation and issues management across comms areas and internal teams and functions
  • Work closely with third-party agencies, in particular our corporate PR agency
  • Write, distribute and edit press releases, whilst tracking and analysing media coverage
  • Ensure our social media strategy remains relevant and aligned to campaigns and the broader business’s needs


You will need:

  • Strong experience of Corporate PR and the media, ideally in house but open to agency
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, managing issues and crises effectively, including those of a consumer-facing nature
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organisational, time management skills to be able to prioritise and work towards deadlines
  • Ideally have experience of the retail industry or a consumer-facing and/or FTSE business
  • A background in journalism useful
  • Be self-assured in your decision-making and be adept at providing counsel to the senior leadership team
  • Strong networker with a confident but collaborative approach
