The Head of Commercial marketing for Carphone Warehouse plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of taking our customer offer to market. Managing multiple core business processes and stakeholders, this role is responsible for ensuring we deliver a customer driven trade plan, delivered through compelling campaigns, promotions, propositions and offers, helping us deliver our commercial business objectives.


In taking full responsibility for all aspects of CPW trade marketing, the head of role is pivotal in setting and facilitating key quarterly and weekly business processes, driving customer focus and commercial excellence. This role works across the wider marketing function, ensuring our propositions and core RTBs are delivered in a meaningful way to customers, driving traffic, conversion and brand preference.

You will:

  • Have full responsibility for Carphone Warehouse’s trade marketing calendar, including all events, promotions, product launches and any other customer facing activity.
  • Be the gatekeeper and facilitator of core business trade planning processes, including the 24 week quarterly business planning cycle, and in season trading PLACE processes (including weekly trading meetings, business planning meetings and tactical execution).
  • Co-ordinate the wider marketing team in developing and delivering plans that take our customer offer to our target audiences in a compelling, innovative and effective way.
  • Work closely with other head of roles to ensure manufacturer & connectivity partner marketing plans are delivered in an effective way within core planning processes.
  • Bring innovation to our campaign and offer to keep Carphone Warehouse ahead of competitors, and in line with business objectives
  • Drive within role the three core marketing strategic goals of greater customer focus, more personalised marketing and greater efficiency of spend.
  • Manage the three marketing managers and one assistant, responsible for ownership of quarterly promotions and key in season meetings.


You will need:

  • Category marketing or commercial experience, ideally gained working within a fast paced retail or broadband/ mobile / electronics brand
  • Experience in developing commercially successful events and campaigns
  • A broad range of Marketing knowledge and/or evidence of operational delivery of customer focused activity and campaigns
  • Project management skills
  • Clear evidence of influencing skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • 2:1 Graduate degree or similar
