The role is responsible for supporting delivery of the future Carphone Warehouse business strategy and ensuring that our strategic initiatives return on the investment we make. Working closely with the analytics team, commercial functions, strategy, business change and finance, this person will help inform future priorities, risks and opportunities.

The role will lead and support the creation of the 3 year plan and subsequent governance process, ensuring that the projects invested in are delivered and achieve their benefits. The role will also work to optimise CPW ways of working building good relationships with all areas of Carphone Warehouse.  The commercial development team will also continuously monitor customer and market trends, to help provide insight on new opportunities for in year growth, including new customer segments, new ways of selling and ways of optimising commercial benefit

You will:

  • Support the Director of Strategy and Analytics in providing insight in building 3/5 year plans
  • Lead the delivery of the CPW portfolio, supporting categories by working with the Business Change teams and other adjacent functions to ensure timely and on budget work which delivers expected ROI
  • Feed into the commercial planning processes on a quarterly basis, to ensure key initiatives are captured as priorities during the quarter in which they land
  • Support categories to develop in year initiatives to take maximum advantage of new opportunities with customer segments or in growing parts of the market e.g. second hand phones, kids handsets
  • Maintain an awareness of external factors (including competitors, industry and market developments) which impact the business.
  • Identify new business opportunities & propositions from market/customer insight
  • Optimise Carphone Warehouse ways of working and Operating Model
  • Work collaboratively through matrix-management across the entire business to support the senior leaders to help drive our commercial objectives. 
  • Support the development of the Commercial Development Manager and line management of Grad roles within the team.

You will need:

  • Experience of strategic thinking – ideally from a retail background, or a consultancy background working within a fast paced consumer industry
  • Cross functional project management experience
  • Experience of consumer electronics, telecoms or another fast paced retail industry (Desirable)
  • To be a competent user of Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel systems
