Property Cost Manager

As the Property Cost Manager you’ll support the Senior Property Procurement & Cost Manager with leading, developing & managing our national teams of external professional Quantity Surveyors and Cost Managers. You’ll oversee the cost planning processes to meet programme timelines to required financial models and support all cost management services, controls & governance driving the functions cost reduction strategy.


Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee annual Property cost expenditure & all associated cost management and support & validate all market tendering activity
  • Support all cost management services, Service Level Agreements for third party cost management practices, cost tracking actuals & forecast expenditure against budgets & approvals
  • Oversee cost governance for Property, including supporting internal capital approval processes on behalf of the team & collating cost information for Board papers & presentations.
  • Regularly conduct and share our cost performance against market & industry benchmarking data.
  • Support and contribute to SMART objectives associated with an annual cost reduction agenda
  • Support accurate reporting to Finance of our Fixed Asset Register (FAR), and pull FAR reports together to support projects, as needed.
  • Provide all Capital Allowances information as required by Group Taxation.


Skills & experience required:

  • Extensive experience in a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor position
  • Highly analytical with the ability to analyse large volumes of data to form sound conclusions and recommendations
  • Highly competent communication, IT, data, reporting & presentation skills.
  • A good level of experience working in a similar role within a fast-paced, multi-site retail operation
  • Market tendering & retail construction & fit out experience
  • Working with computer based ‘Purchase to Pay’ systems
