Pricing Manager (Carphone Warehouse)

The Pricing Manager carries responsibility for the commercial performance of their category(s) through the delivery of market leading ranging, pricing and promotions. The category and proposition development teams work in partnership to manage all aspects of the category commercial performance. You will manage a team of Pricing Analysts to deliver on the agreed pricing strategy and commercial targets.

The commercial team set the direction for the business aligning across multiple functions – aligning across multiple functions including Commercial Marketing, Buying, Supply Chain, Connectivity, Finance, Retail, Online, OLS and Direct. You will be expected to lead commercial discussions up to Director level and cross-functionally to ensure the longer-term goals for the business and category are achieved.

You will:

  • Be responsible for delivery of commercial KPIs 
  • Work closely with the Category Managers to build propositions, agree pricing decisions and forecasts, manage the network commitments and manufacturer funding to meet the category volume and margin targets. 
  • Manage the workload of the team to ensure that all deadlines are met and that accurate and timely briefs are provided to other teams 
  • Maintain a good understanding of current market trends – including competitor activity and customer buying behaviour. 
  • Working with relevant teams around the business, develop and test new propositions to ensure we continually innovate our offer.
  • Manage the price book to create, administer and deactivate the tariff range 
  • Make pricing decisions in line with the CPW Pricing policy 
  • Develop category pricing tools to enable a full quarterly category view by week on pricing, margin, network mix, volume
  • Regularly review the processes for their team (and interactions with other teams) 
  • Conduct daily profitability analysis and reporting, including bridges to target/outlook and validation that all elements of margin are being reported correctly.
  • Work with the relevant channel trading teams (across Online, OLS, Retail and Direct) to gain insight into the most effective propositions and customer journeys for each channel. You will have direct responsibility for pricing in Retail, Direct and channels 

You will need:

  • Category management or trading experience in FMCG/electricals or related retail business
  • Knowledge or experience of the Mobile Phone market ideal
  • High commercial awareness and numeracy – critical to be able to deal with complex variables
  • To be highly skilled in Excel, Access and Business Objects (or equivalent)
  • To be educated to a degree level
