The Mobile Insurance & Financial Services Senior Finance Business Partner will provide informed, challenging and supportive Business Partnering for the Services Commercial Director to drive the Mobile Insurance and Financial Services businesses and maximise returns from the two customer books.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will:

  • Support senior stakeholders and operational teams to plan and deliver strategic projects 
  • Drive operational performance by coordinating challenging but achievable financial targets, insightful and timely reporting and relevant management accounts
  • Provide authoritative accounting guidance on complex areas such as insurance accounting, commission capitalisation and provisioning 
  • Provide (retail) commercial insight to inform development of the Mobile Insurance and Credit businesses in the context of a leading multi-site retailer
  • Ensure the businesses develop in conjunction with the wider business, ensuring financial and operating plans are developed with colleague departments
  • Provide insightful and relevant decision support - with financial analysis and insight to support both strategic projects and operating performance
  • Develop and deliver business cases for investments to support the programmes
  • Work with the Financial Services Director to ensure FCA compliance - highlighting and managing risk within the two businesses regulated by the FCA
  • Provide specialist and reliable technical accounting advice on the financial accounting implications of new revenue streams and transactions
  • Ensure that financial processes (for accounting, financial planning and reporting) are fit for purpose; supporting management and setting out clearly and objectively performance and issues
  • Liaise with the wider Finance and Compliance teams to ensure alignment on financial modelling, reporting and budgeting and coordinate a seamless end-to-end finance service leveraging the Finance Centres of Excellence effectively

Skills, qualifications and experience required

You will need:

  • Strong academic background (to Degree level) with a recognised Accounting Qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Bright inquisitive mind to address complex commercial problems
  • Relevant experience of senior Finance roles gained within both Retail and Financial Services sectors
  • Strong technical accounting and planning experience for Insurance and Credit books
  • Extensive Finance business partnering experience with an ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders and to articulate complex messages in a compelling manner via all means of communication
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with an ability to analyse and understand complex issues to facilitate recommendations on optimal solutions
  • A track record of delivering end to end to solutions in a planned and controlled manner
