Are you starting out in your Health and Safety career or working towards your NEBOSH General Certificate? If so, this role could be for you!

Keeping colleagues and customers safe in our stores is really important to us! We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to provide support to the Retail Health & Safety Manager in order to assist in the delivery of strategic goals and plans. As well as supporting with this, there will be a degree of admin responsibilities to ensure all relevant documentation is kept up to date.

This role involves travelling, predominantly covering the Midlands, but UK & ROI could be required. Travel to Head Office in Acton will be expected a few times a month.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing health and safety advice and information to the UK & ROI Dixons Carphone Retail operation.
  • Working proactively with Store Management to achieve health and safety compliance.
  • Supporting Store Management to maintain safe systems of work and ensure provision of specialist advice, coaching and practical support as required.
  • Monitoring, reviewing and updating risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Visiting stores to carry out audits and inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of Health & Safety systems and procedures. Developing actions plans where required.
  • Investigating, or where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and to take the necessary steps to prevent a reoccurrence.
  • Providing regular reports and updates to the Retail Health and Safety Manager on weekly accident data, accident analysis and weekly checklists ensuring compliance with minimum expectations.


Skills & Experience:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Occupational Safety & Health qualification (desirable)
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation including codes of practice and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of current H&S topics and best practice.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office in particular, Word and Excel.
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Good levels of flexibility and able to travel.
  • Retail experience is desired but other relevant experience considered.
