Head of Commercial Partnerships

We’re looking for an exceptional individual for the role of Head Commercial Partnerships who will have end to end responsibility for one or more of our major mobile network partners. Our network partner relationships are central to our business and account for c. 80% of Carphone Warehouse revenues. In this role, you’ll be part of the UK Connectivity Team which manages the end to end relationships and commercial agreements with UK mobile, mobile broadband and fixed broadband providers and is responsible for maximising the profitability of our commercial agreements.


Key responsibilities:

  • Own the primary day-to-day relationship with one or more major networks – including the overall commercial contract and delivery against this
  • Define the commercial strategy for your network partner(s) and build the commercial and operational plan to deliver
  • Own the relationship with the Network(s), in particular, the point of contact for all commercial, trading and operational issues and opportunities across all categories (postpay, pre-pay, mobile broadband, SIMO etc)
  • To provide leadership and direction to your team to ensure delivery of priorities internally with the business and externally to the network
  • To be a lead within the Connectivity Team for a major product category across all networks, interfacing to the respective Category team within our trading team (Customer Solutions Group)
  • Create and deliver the annual joint business plan with your network partners that moves the relationship beyond a contract


Key experience required:

  • Experience in a highly commercially focused role – responsible for achieving key financial outcomes with significant business impact
  • Sharp commercial acumen – ability to spot opportunities, and follow them through from negotiation to delivery
  • Ability to grasp detail quickly to identify what’s important, but also to put it into the big picture strategy – to understand what actions are going to make a positive difference to performance
  • An inspiring people person – able to build and energise a high performing team
  • A great communicator – ability to influence senior stakeholders and external partners with compelling written and oral communications
  • Ability to operate at a high level in a fast moving consumer-facing business
  • A familiarity with the consumer telecoms market will be an advantage, but not a pre-requisite for the right candidate
