Head of Data Management

Dixons Carphone are looking for a Head of Data Management to design and lead our business-wide ‘data agenda’ and ensure data supports our business priorities, customer experience and compliance obligations. You will be managing a relatively new team, which will be crucial to the future success of DCG. 




Lead DC Data Management Development

  • Accountable for the definition of and continual health of a business-wide strategy for data ensuring that this supports the company strategy
  • Actively and continuously engage and communicate with stakeholders / business functions on the progress and value of data management
  • Provide data management thought-leadership to the business promoting world-class practices
  • Recruit and develop a team acknowledged as enabling change, proactive, and effective
  • Lead data remediation programme, including selection and management of 3rd party partners as required


Data Development

  • Understand current / future data needs of the business and provide, integrate, and embed core capabilities
  • Work with IT (architecture) to define and build a set of blueprints designed to standardise the way data is sourced, integrated and consumed across the business
  • Ensure appropriate development of SCV, cloud environment, and other future enterprise data domains
  • Point of contact to consult on data management during business change (commercial and regulatory)
  • Ensure alignment of key (local) data management initiatives with the broader data transformation agenda


Data Governance and Risk Management

  • Define standards, policies & processes to manage quality, security & availability of data company-wide
  • Monitor each policy and report key findings ensuring transparency on compliance company-wide
  • Advise on implementation of Data Security and Data Protection policies


Data Operations and Quality

  • KPI definition and reporting (including trend analysis and insight)
  • Consult with the business, where data management occurring locally, on best-practice approach to monitoring and resolving data quality
  • Ensure business users have confidence in the reliability of SCV Customer data
  • Provide a data profiling service that assesses the quality of source system Customer data, prior to it entering the SCV
  • Establish a data quality working group, consisting of business and technical stakeholders, to drive improvements in SCV data quality


Required Skills & Experience


Data regulatory knowledge

  • In depth understanding of data regulations, including GDPR
  • Ability to combine technical expertise with a passion for data quality
  • Experience of developing and deploying data policies within organisations



  • Able to communicate data and insight easily to various functions at all levels of the business
  • Ability to work with stakeholders across the business at all levels


Direction and management

  • Ability to prioritise multiple conflicting requests and communicate reasons why with stakeholders
  • Understanding of how to manage external suppliers / off-shore teams
  • Can develop a team and inspire confidence / loyalty within junior members; mentor others
