We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Procurement Professional to join our newly established Group Procurement Leadership team. The key purpose of this Head of Category – Operations & Services (Procurement) role is to Establish and implement the Procurement strategy for Operations & Services in conjunction with key senior stakeholders.  This should align with the Procurement Centre of Excellence , providing stakeholder guidance on best routes to market for services whilst maintaining compliance with associated procurement regulations

The jobholder will build long term relationships with business stakeholders developing procurement best practice across Logistics, FM, Professional Services, Shopfitting, Business Support, Customer Support & Print categories.

You will:

  • Develop implement and manage the Operations & Services Procurement Strategy
  • Design, development and implementation of category strategies, policies and process across the Operations & Service categories.
  • Support business functions and teams in managing the £350m+ Opex & £50m+ Capex spend across the Operations & Service categories.
  • Delivery of annual procurement financial targets and challenges and realisation of savings across life of term
  • Building out stakeholder engagement across the Procurement & Operations categories across all stakeholder groups including the ExCo & Exec sponsors ensuring regular communication & reporting on progress against business objectives.
  • Ongoing management and development of Operations & Services Procurement Team


You will need:

  • Degree Educated (2:1 or above) and preferably MCIPS or FCIPS qualified
  • Proven experience in Procurement for a  FTSE 100/250, ideally within a retail or logistics organisation
  • Experience of managing large scale contracts 
  • Exceptional skills in leading multi-disciplined teams to excel
  • Exceptional Business Relationship Management Skills with an ability to challenge and influence the Group Leadership and Exec Team
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commercial sourcing skills and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of commercial planning, budgeting and operations
