IT Governance Lead

Reporting to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance, the IT Governance Lead will role will manage IT Governance and Control. The role will set up and ensure the provision of governance and control across the IT organisation.  This will ensure that standards are adhered to, thereby ensuring quality reporting, efficiency, controls and successful IT delivery.


Key responsibilities:

  • Support the embedding of the new IT operating model through leading on:
  • Establishing the IT Governance model
  • Establishing and reviewing core KPI’s and tolerances across the IT functions
  • Optimising internal ways of working within IT, identifying pain points and making specific recommendations to drive improvements (optimising information flow, internal collaboration, meeting attendances, quality reporting)
  • Develop reporting standards whilst ensuring quality and timely submission of all IT reporting requirements, to ensure no surprises and enable informed decisions to be made
  • Identify IT Risk, and impact of change to the business, escalate and highlight controls which need implementing to mitigate where appropriate
  • Work with ITSLT and the Opex Cost Controller on the ongoing budget management, ensuring investment is prioritised against the relevant projects and spend is tracked and controlled.
  • This role will need to drive the improvement in the IT controls and governance environment, and therefore will need to collaborate with, and influence, senior management across DCG.


Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience working within a high change, complex and fast-moving environment
  • Strong senior stakeholder management experience with the ability to influence and advise at all levels within the business
  • Programme and Project Management across internal and external stakeholder groups 
  • Experience of delivering through multiple IT third parties. 
  • Proven change and run business leader, having built a new, high performance control framework in a similar organisation.
  • Proven Operating Model design and effective implementation.
  • Experience of the IT development life cycle (Demand, Design, Build, Test, deploy, operate). 
  • Knowledge of standard IT processes (e.g. ITIL, Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) etc.
  • Focus and drive to identify and implement solutions - solutions-orientated approach
  • Retail industry experience (Desirable)
