3D Designer - Store Design

As member of the Central Design Team the job holder will develop highly conceptual fixture and fitting solutions together with integrated point of sale which meet the Group’s requirements in accordance with the brands corporate identity, brand values, specific brief requirements, cost effectiveness and scalability.


The Creative Designer (Store Design) is expected to contribute fully from the briefing / scoping part of a project, right through to the delivery and evaluation of a prototype. You’ll rigorously evaluate projects at every stage of the design process to ensure solutions remain fit for purpose, that costs are constantly challenged to ensure value for money and that the project is delivered on time.


Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with commercial development teams along with supply chain and be able to brief and manage preferred suppliers
  • Creating innovative cost effective store interiors that customers will find enjoyable, easy to shop and “bring technology to life”
  • Communicate ideas and concepts through clear effective methods all in-house
  • Maintain visual differentiation between the chains whilst driving commonality of shop-fitting components across all chains UK and International
  • Engineer design concepts to drive best value for all chains understanding lifecycle costs balancing durability with initial cost
  • Must be aware of market trends, customer expectations and competition and therefore accountable for the team applying the insight to specific projects
  • Work across the Group and support European Format teams with regard to one right way of working and delivering Group solutions
  • Deliver projects through effective organisation delivering end to end solutions


Skills & experience required:

  • Education to (MIN) 2:1 Degree standard in a design related discipline
  • Excellent sketching ability with the skills both electronic and freehand
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience across 2D & 3D software – Desire packages include: Auto CAD, 3D Studio Max, Google Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Word, Excel, Power point.  
  • Strong understanding / skill-set of leading innovation and change including managing potential resistance and conflict.
  • Extensive track record of delivering high quality cost effective retail concepts and own label solutions.
  • Good understanding of all manufacturing processes and material types across the design process and shop-fitting
  • Strong analytical ability and decision making skills
  • Good knowledge of the shop-fitting supplier market in the UK&I and globally
  • Ability to reduce cost by value engineering existing designs and advising on new design options
  • Good negotiation, communication and presentation skills at all levels together with a strong influencing ability
  • Experience within Travel retailing would be an advantage.
