From your first day, we’ll give you the support and opportunities to grow them all as well as focus on where you want to take them. Everyone, through their own Individual Development Plan, is encouraged to think about their career and how they want to develop. And for our part, we’ll help you get even better at what you do and work towards your next step – whatever you want that to be. At Currys, learning is always-on and it’s open to everyone.

If learning makes you think of dull days in the classroom, think again. Our blended approach includes on-the-job training, online learning platforms, virtual programmes, and Lunch and Learns, not to mention our state-of-the-art retail training facilities. So, whoever you are, whatever your goals, and whichever way you like to learn, we’ve got a wealth of opportunities to help you develop Skills for Life and become a capable and committed colleague.

On top of that, we offer the chance to work towards accredited qualifications. Some are role-specific, while others focus on things like coaching, management, and mental health. And for those just starting out, we’ve got a range of early careers options including apprenticeships and graduate programmes, which can help you develop the skills for an exciting career quickly, with loads of on-the-job experience.

Our learning academy

TheAcademy@FortDunlop is our multi-million pound Retail training facility. We worked with 20 of our biggest suppliers to make sure all 19,000 square feet are kitted out to turbo-boost our colleagues’ learning and get you set up with the skills you need from the start.

Through a three-day immersive induction at Fort Dunlop, we’ll arm you with the skills and knowledge to do both an incredible job and launch an exciting career. As well as showing you how to deliver the kind of service that will keep customers coming back for more, you’ll also get a personal introduction to our big-name products and brands. From gaming and interactive zones to a Google-themed apartment, supplier-branded classrooms, and even a mock store, every inch of our Fort Dunlop facility has been designed to immerse you in our world and get you ready for in-store life.

And the learning won’t end there. Over your next 12 weeks, you’ll work on-the-job to your own personal learning plan, gaining business knowledge, topping up your product know-how, and getting all the in-store intel you need to help everyone enjoy amazing technology.

For the safety of our colleagues during Covid-19, Fort Dunlop is temporarily closed. But don’t worry. With an exciting mix of virtual classrooms and inductions in place, the learning hasn’t stopped!

Our distribution training facilities

  • As well as our retail facility at Fort Dunlop, we also have state-of-the-art training academies in Bolton, Bristol and Tilbury for our home delivery and installation teams. Packed full of the latest products, colleagues going through these academies get to boost their product knowledge, so it’s bang up to date.

    As well a mock back-of-a-van, to help colleagues practice lifting heavy goods, our academies also have mock flats where we can simulate installing tech in a real home. And there are ‘wet’ rooms where we can test scenarios like fixing leaks! All this makes the learning experience much more real and leaves our colleagues full of confidence about the amazing experience they can bring to our customers’ homes.
