Safety is our #1 priority

When the Covid-19 pandemic began, technology played an even more amazing role in our lives by helping us stay connected to the people and things we love. This made what we do at Currys even more important and we’re incredibly proud of our colleagues for the way they’ve stepped up to continue giving customers the level of service they expect and access to the vital products and services they need.

The wellbeing of our colleagues and customers is the most important thing to us. Which is why we keep safety front and centre. We’re incredibly proud of the way our colleagues stepped up during the Covid-19 pandemic and while our colleagues look out for our customers, we’re doing the same for them.

What’s changed?

Take a look at what we’ve done so far to keep our Currys colleagues and customers safe and well.

  • Working from home

Where we’re been able to, we make it possible for our capable and committed colleagues to work from home by providing them with laptops, VPN access and a Home Working Hub that’s packed with useful resources and helpful information, from online collaboration tools to troubleshooting tips. We’ve now introduced a new hybrid working model to help employees and teams find the right balance between working across the virtual and physical worlds.

Working in store and on-site

As stores, repair centres, and contact centres have gradually reopened (our distribution hubs ticked over throughout lockdown) we’ve introduced a number of safety measures. We’ve followed government advice from the start and done everything we can to give our team both peace of mind and maximum safety.

  • Everywhere

We have two-metre social distancing in effect, with clear floor signs in place, and we’ve provided protective equipment for all our colleagues, including hand gel and free Currys face masks. We’ve also increased our cleaning.

  • In store

We’re limiting the number of customers who are in store at any one time, have fitted screens at till points as well as other key areas, and introduced zero-contact drive thru (or walk up) collection services.

  • Contact, repair and distribution centres

Dedicated walkways and drop-off points have been implemented in our repair labs with a one-way system for people and products to eliminate crossovers. We’ve also introduced empty benches between colleagues to help maintain social distancing.

Looking after our capable and committed colleagues

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted everyone in different ways – whether that’s mentally, physically or financially. So, we’ve made sure all colleagues can access support through our Employee Assistance Programme. Along with this free, confidential, 24-hour counselling and advice service there’s also our new online Wellbeing Hub, full of helpful information on areas including mental health, resilience, family matters, and financial wellbeing.

  • How we’re recruiting right now

If you’re applying to join our team, we want you to stay safe too. And although we’ve managed to keep recruitment running smoothly, we’ve had to make some changes. Like introducing virtual interviews, depending on the team you’re applying to. And, if you’re successful, your induction may also be conducted virtually too. Wherever and however you join us, you’ll be given all the tools and support you need to ensure you feel safe and confident as you start your career.
